Our Wessex Centres in Bournemouth and Winchester offer the best of both worlds, combining the status of a long established London Chambers with all the benefits of circuit life. These benefits are there from day one of pupillage and include are on both a professional and personal level. We have sustained energetic growth in all our five centres and now have over 150 members, in ten practice groups...
Each year 3PB offers three funded pupillages. The selection progress is strenuous but the benefit to the successful candidates is that they are guaranteed a very broad choice of work to see. Each centre usually has no more than one pupil in it, thus avoiding the pressure of feeling they are in competition with other pupils at their centre.
What is the attraction of Bournemouth and Winchester?
Based in five centres 3PB operates as a single set. Each centre has an experienced Temple-trained Senior Clerk backed up by a full complement of junior clerks and administrative staff. All five centres are networked with modern telecommunications, including the latest video conferencing equipment.
3PB Bournemouth has been established for over 40 years and 3PB Winchester over 20 years.
Together with our other centres in London, Bristol and Oxford we offer a comprehensive service of the highest quality to our clients on the Western Circuit and beyond.
Significantly both Wessex centres have large and busy combined courts on their doorsteps. Winchester tenants have a short but energetic walk (uphill) to the 1st tier Combined Court in the city centre; the work is high quality and plentiful; the barrister’s canteen is middling but the walk home is effortless (downhill).
Our Bournemouth annex now populates the new combined court centre at Wessex Fields. These particular fields are more than a short walk from the town centre. In fact, a car is essential but once there, the staff are friendly and the canteen better than middling. Local Courts mean efficient use of time in our practices. They are convenient and the Clerks have good working relationships with the various listing departments.
