Charlotte is on the Attorney-General’s “C” list and is a Grade 2 prosecutor.

She has extensive experience of drafting Restraint, Management Receivership and Enforcement Receivership orders under the Criminal Justice Act 1988, the Drug Trafficking Act 1994 and the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, and regularly appears in the High Court and Crown Court on such applications. She has advised on issues arising out of such orders, including living expenses, third party debtors, insolvency, interested parties, property disputes, assets outside the jurisdiction, remuneration of Receivers, lifting the corporate veil and ancillary relief. In 2008 she was instructed in the first application for a SOCA Receiver under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

Charlotte has also conducted and defended a number of applications for certificates of inadequacy, and has settled papers for and prosecuted contempt proceedings in the High Court and Crown Court.

Prosecution agencies for whom Charlotte acts include the CPS, RCPO, BERR and SOCA. She also acts for HMRC in condemnation, cash forfeiture and VAT Tribunal cases, and has been instructed on behalf of defendants and third parties with an interest in property under restraint or receivership.

Charlotte has appeared in the Court of Appeal both alone and as a junior for prosecution and defence in respect of sentence, conviction and confiscation orders.

Notable cases include:

R v Riley and others (junior counsel for the defence) – a multi-handed bonded warehouse fraud, eventually stayed as an abuse of process;

R v Ukueku & Patel (junior counsel for the prosecution) – a six week Nigerian advance fee fraud.
