Crime
Guy Opperman has extensive experience of all types of criminal work.
He has extensive experience in the criminal courts in both the Crown Court and Magistrates Courts. He has conducted nearly a hundred Crown Court Trials and has been involved in many murder trials. He is retained prosecution counsel for the Attorney General.
Guy's other prosecution work includes prosecutions for the Health and Safety Executive, Customs & Excise, the DTI & various other regulatory agencies.
He also undertakes some defence work on an ongoing basis and has extensive long term experience.
Recent major prosecutions
2004: successful prosecution of serious drugs ring in the Southampton / Bournemouth area at Southampton Crown court
2003: 2 month prosecution in the Turks & Caicos Islands of an alleged conspiracy to defraud.
2002: successful prosecution of a series of labour and liberal councilors on charges of electoral fraud, ballot rigging and perverting the course of justice at the 2001 Elections.
2001-2: successful prosecution of a gang of builders who were intimidating and conning the elderly and infirm out of money for bogus building work on behalf of Hampshire CPS
2005: presently instructed by Central CPS in one ongoing case in London
