Prior to joining Chambers, in 2010 Lloyd won BPP London’s individual mooting competition, judged by Lord Walker of Gestingthorpe in the Royal Courts of Justice. Lord Walker stated that it was Lloyd’s “strong delivery”, which he scored as “9 out of 10,” together with his “sound legal analysis” that distinguished him from the other finalists.
Lloyd has further developed his advocacy skills during his successful pupillage in Chambers. Since accepting tenancy in 2012 Lloyd has been building a busy practice in Employment and Commercial Law. He has experience of final hearings in employment law in Tribunals in England and Scotland as well as the Employment Appeal Tribunal.
He has been commended by an EAT judge in a recent appeal for producing " ...elegant written submissions (which) were ably complimented by eloquent and succinct oral submissions."
Lloyd has gained experience drafting opinions and pleadings in commercial and contractual disputes as a pupil and since gaining tenancy. Lloyd has also delivered CPD accredited training on the topic of Interest Rate Hedging Products and complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
For more information please see Lloyd’s Practice Groups.
Outside of work Lloyd is a keen golfer, beginner saxophonist and supporter of Newcastle United.
