Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence
Having completed a Masters in Law at Durham and successfully completed his pupillage with us in London and Bristol, Matthew Cannings is keen to follow in his pupilmasters’ footsteps and develop a strong personal injury practice.
Matthew undertook his pupillage with Guy Opperman, a clinical negligence specialist, and Christian Sweeney, a personal injury specialist, which has stood him in good stead to develop this area of law at a rate above his peers. He has been instructed to appear in over 40 personal injury cases during the last six months on small claims, low to middle fast track liability and quantum trials and various applications relating to the same.
Matthew has gained experience in the following areas:
- Cases involving credit
hire
- Road traffic accident claims
- Liability disputes
- Disposal hearings
- Infant settlements
Within these areas, Matthew has been instructed to advise and represent in:
- Allocation
hearings
- Case management conferences
- Applications to set aside default judgments
- Applications for summary judgment
- Disputed costs issues
- Liability and quantum trials
Matthew is happy to consider cases funded by way of a conditional fee agreement.
