Clinical negligence

Peter Jennings has experience in several areas of clinical negligence including:

  • General practitioners
  • Surgeons (in various fields and both open and laparoscopic surgery)
  • Obstetricians and gynaecologists
  • Paediatricians
  • Anaesthetics
  • Dental surgery
  • Cosmetic surgery
  • Nurses and midwives

and has acted in claims at all levels of seriousness, including brain damage and cerebral palsy cases. He also has experience of personal injury cases other clinical negligence.

Lawyers' negligence

Peter has broad experience of cases involving the negligence of legal practitioners, both in the conduct of litigation and in handling and advising in property and commercial transactions.

He has acted in cases arising out of underlying matters ranging from criminal injury compensation claims to admiralty proceedings. They include:

  • Personal injury and fatal accident cases
  • Civil proceedings against the police
  • Conveyancing matters, particularly concerning rights of way
  • Mortgages
  • Commercial matters such as the sale of a private company.

Accountants and other professionals

Peter has handled cases involving the negligence of accountants in the context of:

  • Tax affairs
  • Company accounts

and has acted in cases concerning other professionals such as insurance brokers.

Disciplinary proceedings

Peter has acted in disciplinary matters before the professional conduct committee (nursing), in internal proceedings before the relevant health service authorities and before employment tribunals. He has acted as an Inspector for the Department of Trade and Industry in insider dealing cases.
