Acting principally for Claimants, Richard Tyson has substantial High Court experience of large claims – being fought at both liability and disposal hearings. These claims include road traffic accident and employers’ liability actions, often involving the MIB in some guise. Richard also has appeared before CICA. Handling cases with a plethora of experts is a particular speciality – both within and without the Rehabilitation Code.
Richard is a member of both the Personal Injuries Bar Association and the Professional Negligence Bar Association.
Reported cases in the Court of Appeal and above include:-
Staples v West Dorset DC [1995] 93 LGR 536 CA (on liability for a injured visitor to a public open space – the Cobb at Lyme Regis)
Kenth v Heimdale Hotel Investments Ltd [2001] TLR 3 July 2001 CA (on acceleration of pre-existing back condition)
X v Bedfordshire County Council & others: M v Newham LBC [1995] 2 AC 633 HL (experts’ immunity from suit amongst other issues)
Richard is a Recorder with a “civil ticket”, which involves trying multi-track personal injury actions. He has also lectured to solicitors and other professional bodies on personal injury matters.
