Public Law & Regulatory
Tom Horder is regularly instructed to act and advise in public law and regulatory matters. He has experience acting both for and against local authorities and has a particular interest in cases involving human rights points. Recent examples of his work in this area include the following:
- Appearing before, and advising in relation to a judicial review against, the Care Standards Appeal Tribunal
- Advising and acting for the Chief Constable of Dorset in the force’s first contested cash forfeiture case under the Proceeds of Crime Act
- Defending and prosecuting cases under the Dangerous Dogs Act and the Education Act
- Representing a local authority in a Crown Court Appeal against conviction for trading standards offences
- Acting for a Fire Authority in an appeal against a Fire Enforcement Notice
- Representing a taxi driver in an appeal against a decision to revoke his hackney cab licence
- Representing a local Councillor before an internal County Council disciplinary hearing
