In 1907 there were three members of chambers and two clerks occupying four rooms. Today we have over 100 members and around 20 clerks occupying four complete buildings in London, Bournemouth, Oxford and Winchester as well as offices in Bristol.

Clearly, we regard growth as important. It has enabled us to continue to provide a comprehensive service to our solicitors despite the increasing specialisation of the law. But growth is not an end in itself. Our aim is to provide genuine experts in every mainstream area of practice. We will only recruit outstanding practitioners who can contribute to this aim.

Recruitment of established practitioners

We regularly recruit established practitioners at every level, including the most senior, as can be seen from the News pages. Factors that cause people to apply to us include the relative stability that we can offer, the excellent clerking, the congenial atmosphere and the opportunity to practise from different geographical centres. We are also a busy set. Our size means that we are in the fortunate position that we would never have to turn away an applicant of outstanding ability merely because of pressures of space.

Applications from practising members of the Bar up to 15 years call or thereabouts should be made to the Membership Committee, 3 Paper Buildings, Temple, London, EC4Y 7EU or by e-mail to .

Senior practitioners -- juniors of around 15 years call or more and silks -- should contact at the London chambers or our Chief Clerk, .

Naturally any such contacts will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
